One of the main uses for an excavator is digging trenches, holes and foundations. It can also be used for demolition, dredging rivers, snow removal, material handling and forestry works. There are different types of excavators that can be used depending on the construction project you're undertaking. They are available in a wide range of sizes and capacities and it is important that you consider what kind of features you need for the excavator to accommodate your requirements.

Types of Excavators

1. Mini Excavators

Perfect for confined spaces, these mini diggers can access hard to reach places and provide easy manoeuvrability. They are mainly used for landscaping purposes or minor constructions where they can work in tight spaces.

2. Micro Excavators

These micro diggers are mainly used for smaller tight spaces and are ideal for a rear garden patio or small extension footings. They have a maximum dig depth of up to 6ft which can be perfect for extension footings, landscape projects and general building works. These crawler excavators can be stable on extremely rough terrain and are less likely to get stuck in uneven ground.

3. Midi Excavators

Designed for a more rigorous site work, these midi diggers provide more power and digging depth. They are capable of heavier excavation operations and have more extensive features such as 'quick-hitch' functionality and high fuel efficiency.

4. Larger Excavators

These 13Ton diggers have long boom arms that are perfect for low, more difficult to reach areas. They can also be used for smaller lifting operations and can move large volumes of earth quickly and efficiently.
